Daniel Andrews has lost control of crime with gangs and thugs roaming at will terrorising local communities.
That’s why a Liberal Nationals Government will get back in control of community safety by providing $200,000 towards extending the current CCTV security camera network at Rangeview Shopping Strip, Mitcham.
Since Daniel Andrews was elected, crime in Mitcham has increased by 21.85%, with theft from a retail store increasing by 196%.
CCTV programs have been widely successful in improving residents’ feelings of safety and security as well as assisting Victoria Police in responding to crime.
This announcement follows other community focused crime prevention measures announced by the Liberal Nationals including:
- Establishing highly visible Police shopfronts in 12 major shopping centres, including at Eastland.
- Re-establish a ‘Police in Schools’ program, to allow police to better engage with young Victorians.
- Fund the establishment of a Victoria Police Mobile CCTV camera rollout and;
- Commit $2 million over four years to Neighbourhood Watch for local crime prevention initiatives.
Having an extensive CCTV network around the Rangeview Shopping Strip will act has a deterrent for would be criminals and assist police in catching criminals when they do offend.
Under Daniel Andrews, crime is out of control and only the Liberal Nationals are committed to ensuring all Victorians feel safe in their communities.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Community Safety, Edward O’Donohue:
“A Matthew Guy Government will get back in control of community safety and make Victoria safe again.
Daniel Andrews has lost control of law and order, only the Liberal Nationals will make Victoria safe by investing in more public safety measures like better public lighting and CCTV cameras for the Mitcham community.”
Comments attributable to Member for Ringwood, Dee Ryall:
“Crime is out of control under Daniel Andrews and communities like Mitcham are paying the price.
Only a Matthew Guy led government will get back in control of community safety and deliver tough on crime and community safety polices to keep residents in Mitcham safe.
There is a clear choice at the next election between more of the same from Daniel Andrews and Matthew Guy who is delivering for local communities.”
